Hive Construction
Introduction.
A beehive is a complex construction. From an external perspective it may appear quaint and an attractive garden ornament. However - it is not a single entity but comprises of seven main structures stacked vertically. They are not usually attached to each other and are maintianed in position by their own weight. This proved to be a nasty surprise to one enterprising individual who tried ot steal a particularly attractive hive from Lizzy’s garden in the dead of night. The hive was only moved a few feet before the parts became dislocated and some very irritated bees came out to find out who was pulling their house apart. We do not know for sure what happened next as we were not present - but we can have a pretty good guess. For details of the effects of bee-stings please see the page on bee-husbandry.
