Lizzy and Father

Liz started beekeeping in 2006 and confessed a daydream of building a quality bee-business to her father. Liz is a mother of 4 young children (5 years to 13) and as such sufficiently unattractive to any prospective employer as to be near unemployable. This together with dyslexia made employment a challenge and pointed her in the directionof self-employment. At the time her youngest was a babe in arms and her father (John) advised her to “learn her trade” through several seasons until her youngest started school. That is now the position (2019) and they have every intention of growing the business subject to the maintenance of quality standards. She is the main repository of bee welfare and husbandry and has demostrated a natural aptitude for bee management.

John is an ex-company director and Management Consultant. He has a MSc in Facilities Management and a BSc Hons in Herbal Medicine. He also has a diploma in IT project management and is a skilled woodworker. It is felt that beekeeping/farming is a multifaceted business, requiring marketing skills, financial control, a sound approach to customer fullfillment and a strong appreciation of the technical skills of bee husbandry.
